guitar tutorials for beginners?

does anyone know of any good tutorials on how to play electric guitars for someone who has never even picked up a guitar? some of my friends want me to play in a heavy metal band so i would need to know all about how to play riffs and everything.

   go to ultimate-gutiar.com
   they have some pretty good lessons but the problem is, the tutorials are written.
   I would say try to go to guitar center or any guitar stores where they have DVDs that are about guitar lessons for beginners, I’d recommend the washburn dvd tutorials, I have one and it’s both electric and acoustic lessons. It’s pretty good.

   there are some good Guitar-instructional videos…but i must tell you, as a Guitarist, that you should search for a guitar-teacher
   in your area. You need to know the “Ground” for Guitar-playing…chords, some theory and picking techniques…if you just start with riffs, even without knowing of music…well, its up to you….try to find a good and “valueable” teacher!
   He will teach you the steps….thats my personal advice !
