How do I self-learn to play the acoustic guitar?
Posted by admin on 3rd July 2010 in Acoustic Guitar Tips
What is the best way to learn how to play the acoustic guitar by myself? Any tips? Any self-learn (free) guitar websites to recommend? I wanna learn the techniques of freestyle and improvisation especially, and imitation of performers.
I wanna learn how to play like Tristan Prettyman and Jason Mraz.

dont do it.you won’t understand some things.just get a teacher for it.
Regardless of what style you want to play, you should learn a broad range of styles. That will give you a good base from which you can hone your own style.
I posted an answer to another of the same question a few days ago. Mine is answer #6

You can buy music books from your local music store, just to get basic knowledge of the chords. I tried lessons and the most I learned to play was “Free Bird”
After that, when you know the basics, you listen to songs and try to play by ear. Try to figure out the chords they play. I would go with some easy songs first, like “Free Bird” and “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”. Then you can work your way up. You could try some modern stuff too, if you want, but I like the old stuff!
start with your major, minor and pentatonic scales… then start learning your chords. also go to guitar shops and ask for a some free tips =D
check out the lessons at this website

Not free, but completely worth it, this was the only was I was able to learn to play.
