How hard is it to learn and play electric guitar?

Also, is it hard to headbang and do stage tricks and stuff while playing?
Would a year be enough to get decent at playing guitar?

   any instrument is ‘hard’ unless you give it dedication

   You have to start out with basic notes then go to the harder ones. It took me about a year to get the hang of it. Stage tricks are the last thing you need to learn.

   Leaning how to play guitar is easy, learning how to play it RIGHT is hard

   Not to hard. ive been playing for 5 years acoustic/Electric if you’ve got talent like me loll. Then you should be able to teach yourself but you might want to take a month of lessons just for the basics and scales then just go on by yourself after that. Ive made it far being a musician.

   It’s not too hard but you need to give it the due dedication. I taught myself and I find that I’m improving all the time

   You might want to check Apple’s new version of Garage Band in iLife ‘09 (if you have a Mac), it has a nifty guitar training tool which you should be able to use quite effectively.

   Its easier to finger an electric guitar.

   But if you want to play those fast solo like Steve Vai, then of course that is still a long way to go.

   Most rock songs involve playing power chord on the electric guitar, but still, you need to learn the basic chord and all
