Can somebody explain me what is pentatonic thing? I want to learn Blues in the guitar and it’s becoming hard..?

Posted by admin on 19th August 2010 in Blues Guitar Tips

I’ve been playing guitar for a couple of years and now I’ve started to learn Blues a week ago, in the Internet (Youtube). I already know the basic riffs, but when I have started trying to learn the lead Blues solos, they (the people in the videos) only talked about Major and minor pentatonics and I have no idea what the hell is that! Can somebody explain me what’s that and what for is used? PLEASE HELP! I REALLY NEED TO KNOW!

  1. Rory~Negative Creep says:

A pentatonic scale is five a scale of five notes without sharps or flats, it’s like the chromatic (8 notes) scale cut down. Don’t worry too much it’s not actually that complicated.

There is a pretty good explanation here, and there are box diagrams for guitar
