Part #1 Posture, left & right hand technique, pick holding – Guitar Lessons for Beginners Acoustic

Posted by admin on 31st August 2010 in Beginners

Go to yourguitarsage.com to find out how to get charts to 100s of songs!!! This guitar lesson vid shows you the very basics of posture, left and right hand technique, how to hold the pick etc. Check out yourguitarsage.com for info on the online instructional book about charts, chords, strumming and the techniques that I use here in my videos.. For more guitar lessons, see my other free tutorials. For original and cover music by me, Erich, go to www.myspace.com . Since I’m so busy making new video tutuorial lessons all the time and teaching guitar, I probably won’t have time to answer individual questions regarding guitar. Other videos cover beginner, advanced and intermediate levels. I teach rock, blues, country and just about any other style on electric or acoustic. If you can’t find your answer from the resources at the website above, keep digging into my vids, and I’m sure you will find your answer. Keep practicing!!!

    @TheNuclearCowboy Thanks!

    @wackoboy48 You should be able to play the basic stuff (not too concerned about harsh/lighter tones) if you just use your right thumb (if you’re right handed) in place of the pick. I would suggest getting a pick at a local music store anyhow- you won’t pay more than 50 cents for a basic one.

    yourguitarsage or anybody else, please answer my question. Barely got my guitar, forgot to buy my pick.. Maybe, I’ll go get one tomorrow, but do you need a pick to play just as shown on the video? With that nice, clear, and high tunes. Or I can still tune it just like that with my fingers. Just asking.

    @MetallicA1399 It’s like it’s been said before. It’s all practice. Take the time to sit and figure out where your fingers need to go between chords. It’s going to take time, just keep practicing and it’ll get easier and easier. Did I mention it would take time?

    Some nice basic stuff for beginners :)
    The left hand stuff from around 8mins on your video can be helped by using a Space Trainer teaching aid from Guitar Gizmo.
    BTW, I agree about Dunlop Tortex pics – the best!

    Jim Dunlop are the best.. def

  21. lemon4girl says:

    thats what i thought but all i did was repeat over and over and find a comftorble way for me to move my fingers to a different chord..so i just repeated until i got it right.

  22. Xguardian18 says:

    @MetallicA1399 dont worry… keep playing some basic chords and just practice switching from one to the other… When you’ve been playing for a couple months.. you’ll switch chords so fast you wont even think about it
