How can i understand and learn different type of strumming on guitar?

Posted by admin on 2nd September 2010 in Guitar Strumming

I have heared many types of strumming patterns like folk style, rock style and bass style but I have never come to know the difference. How can I learn them and know the difference. In Indian music we hardly use these terms. Are there any more styles of strumming? I need to learn them thoroughly because in future I like others to teach.

Have you looked into ska strumming? It is played with upstrokes and muted rhythmically with some clicks.

Typically on rock songs it is power chords and quite a few bands don’t do upstrokes on power chords.
