    To play quite simply, get a chord book and work on learning them. To advance a little more, learn the fret positions in order to pluck individual notes on the strings. The best playing combines both chords and individually played notes.

    It also helps if you know anyone that plays to just sit down and have them show you a little bit, and then just jam. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a teacher, just someone better than you.
