(ELECTRIC GUITAR ADVICE) i want to learn electric guitar really bad?
i’m 19 yrs old & im way too good at guitar hero. i think its finally time to invest in learning real guitar rather than playing video games. i never listened to rock or any guitar as a kid b/c of sports & my parents notion that guitar was only for “white hippies”. for the past year ive been listening to nothing but all kinds of rock and guitar (mainly maiden, jimmy page, & metallica). i basically know nothing about real guitar except for what ive picked up on from playing guitar hero and watching musicians play. ive heard that i should learn how to play on acoustic 1st but i’m poor & i’d rather buy an electric to start out on. i have a LOT of time at college to practice & i really want to learn how to play. i want to ask my parents to help me buy 1 (plus an amp & all the BASIC accessories) but i have no idea how much it would cost. does anybody have any advice on the costs of beginning electric guitar?
as for lessons, my roommate is decent at guitar and could probably teach me some basics. but i just want one now to mess around on, before i can afford lessons.

guitar hero is nothing like playing a ELECTRIC GUITAR but if u do get one got to play it like every chance u get to get better at it alot longer than ur thinking
You can pick up good deals on guitars and amp packages for beginners at between £60 and £120 brand new, but just try ebay, you cant go wrong with ebay,
guitar hero, bah
play the drums, they’re funner and cooler
your best bet is to go to guitar center or musciansfriend.com, there you will get the best deal a beginner guitar can run you about 300 i prefer ibanez sounds nice playing metal, an amp will run you a 100 or what so ever but sometimes when you go to guitar center they have whole packages with guitar, case, and amp hope this helps……guitar hero is nothing like a real
a beginning electric guitar can cost as little a 100 bucks
i found a pack that comes with every thing you need it cost $150
now it’s not the best guitar but you are only learning, also i suggest you buy a guitar tunner becuase it is a pain i nthe ass to do it by ear
and guitar hero is completely different than a normal guitar, but you shouldn’t have a problem learning

EDIT
scratch the thing i said about a tuner aparently it comes with one
lol how beast am i?
My mom is getting me one for christmas we looked it up on the walmart website and i think it was in the 60s or 80s(Good Luck)
fender squire strat. is a decent starter easy to play and good sound. get a small but good branded amp fender/peavy/crate etc. unfortunately you get what you pay for in music instruments but you should pay no more than e300
I got my first guitar when I was 14, it was a Fender Squire. Not the best guitar ever, but it’s good to learn on. I got it in a package with an amp, cord, case, etc. It was about $150-200 or so. Maybe a bit less. Do NOT get a First Act guitar. They are seriously horrible. With a Fender Squire, if you like it enough after you’ve improved, you can just upgrade your pick-ups. I’ve moved up to an Ibanez Artcore, and I am loving it. But yeah, start with something a bit cheaper, then you can always upgrade as you improve.
You have a Guitar Center near you? Check them out. They have good deals.
You dont actaully have to start on accoustic the only reason people say this is to strengthen your fingers. You can do this easily just by using thick strings on an electric. As for the cost you can usually pick up a good begginer starter pack for between 100 and 200 quid. If i were you i wouldnt by second hand as these guitars can be rubbish and you wont be able to tell, eg. warped neck, terrible action. As for lessons if your roomate can play this is a good start he/she could show you some basics but all you really need is the ability to read guitar tab and a lot of determination, buying a begginers book could also be a great help. I completely taught myself from scratch no lessons just went out bought a guitar and figured it out. There is a lot of great advice, video lessons, and guitar tab for almost every song ever written on guitar check out ultimate-guitar .com theres a lot of people a whole lot more qualified than me there who will be happy to help. The best advice i can give you (and you’ll here this all to often) PRACTICE.
