My fingers hurt after playing the guitar for a short time?

Posted by admin on 10th August 2011 in Guitar Playing Tips

I have been playing guitar for over 3 years, but every time I grab a guitar and play for like half an hour, my fingertips get all red and hurt! It would be normal if I had been playing for like a month or something, but I have been playing for 3 years and I can’t figure out why this still happens! Bookmark it: Read more...

Is it hard to learn electric guitar after an acoustic guitar?

Posted by admin on 11th May 2011 in Electric Guitar Tips

I really want to learn to play guitar, but my mom tells me that I should start with an acoustic one first (probably since it’s cheaper). I think I’ve heard that you should start with an acoustic one (is that right…?). But I wanted to know how hard it would be to learn electric after acoustic, since I like that sort of music more (not that I’m opposed to the other sorts of music with acoustic guitar…). I literally know NOTHING so anything you Read more...

What do your guitar teachers teach you (after chords, strumming, fingerpicking)…?

Posted by admin on 7th May 2011 in Guitar Strumming

My teacher just asks me if there’s a song I want to learn, but I can do those at home, he’s really good, but I don’t feel like I’ve learnt much from him. What can I ask him to ‘teach’ me, I’m past being a beginner, so what’s next? I want techniques and new stuff to learn, in order to become an intermediate, instead of just learning simplish songs. Thanks Bookmark it: Read more...

Why does my arm hurt after playing guitar?

Posted by admin on 21st April 2011 in Guitar Playing Tips

I’ve been playing guitar for a couple years. Just recently got into metal core. Been playing in drop C. When i play that type of music my arm gives out kinda. Like doing really fast palm muting and alternate guitar picking. Am i doing it wrong? Because the muscles in my arm start to hurt after a couple of minutes of playing a song. Just recently had this problem. Is there a way i can play fast without straining my muscles? I never have pain in my wrists hand or Read more...

Question about tuning guitar after putting new guitar string on?

Posted by admin on 29th September 2010 in Guitar Tuning

Alright I just changed my high E guitar string. I will get it tuned to E and play for a bit but then come back 2 minutes later and the tone has changed a little bit. Did I just change the string wrong or is this normal for a new string? And I am a very new acoustic guitar player Bookmark it: Read more...

After i replace guitar strings and am up to tuning it, the string always snaps. Any advice?

Posted by admin on 28th September 2010 in Guitar Playing Tips

I try tuning the strings and the tuner says B for the B string but i think i’m an octave low so i tune it higher because the strings feels loose. I keep tuning it higher and higher then when its closing to B, the string snaps. THEY WERE NEW STRINGS. DAMMIT! Any advice? How do i know if it’s the right octave? And how would i prevent snapping the string? Any advice on changing strings and tuning them are appreciated. Bookmark it: Read more...
