I have an acoustic guitar. I have been learning Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here piece by piece. I was curious if this is a good approach to take in learning how to play. Would I be better off just learning all the chords and notes first, then trying to learn songs? Thanks for your input. Bookmark it: Read more...

I really don’t know the difference. Would for learning purposes it be easier to start off on a classical guitar. Is the only difference in the neck width and the type of strings. What is the sound difference between classical and acoustic? What does “fret” the strings mean? Bookmark it: Read more...

At the moment I am only playing tabulature. Yesterday I learnt two new songs – Hurt by Johnny Cash and Behind Blue eyes by Limp Bizkit. It makes me feel good learning famous songs but I also wanna be able to improvise and express myself through play. Tips on becoming better? Buster, they are cover versions and I prefer them. Okay, so I’ve been playing (in earnest) for about 8 months. Since I’ve previously played piano and bass, it was a decently quick pickup. I know a lot of theory, so as to songwriting, everything’s easy. I was pretty much forced to pick it up due to a need, so I’ve been performing on it for about 7months, and so as a result I’m better than a lot of my friends who have been playing for years. I’ve been teaching myself, so I my Read more...
It seems like I have hit my ceiling and i can’t get any better, I’m a guitarist who has been playing for about four years now but it seems like i can’t get any better. I’ve done all i can think of to help my self, jam with other (and better) guitarists. I’ve widened my ranged of music ranging from jazz, blues, classic rock, classical, even modern music. Practice everyday, and I have taken guitar lessons and been learning music theory (scales, Read more...
I consider myself a mediocre musician, i have been playing guitar for a year, trumpet for 6 years, and bass for 2 weeks. I would really like to get better at bass and guitar at a rapid rate. I want to learn to play things buy ear, improvise, and I want to memorize the notes on bass and guitar, I honestly know very little theory when it comes to bass/guitar so I’d like to figure that out. I started playing bass for a school Ska/Blues/Rock band so this stuff is Read more...
