what is the difference between a Folk Guitar and a regular accoustic guitar?

I just recently put strings on an old guitar I had collecting dust in the back of my closet. I am not very guitar savvy so I turned to the internet. I know it is a folk guitar. okay i’ve looked this question up and people say that andvanced player guitars have better quality, and i’m wondering what they mean by that cuz they don’t go into detail do they break easily?? do the sound suck?? is it hard to tune??
