I’m right handed, can I learn to play on a left handed acoustic?

Posted by admin on 20th October 2011 in Acoustic Guitar Tips

I am going to start learning the acoustic guitar, a friend of mine has a left handed one that she says I can borrow. Will it be harder for me to learn on a left handed guitar? I heard that stringing it upside down can cause damage? That’s what I was told. But who knows. Apparently it can make it sound out of tune aswell. Bookmark it: Read more...

Left handed guitar players?

Posted by admin on 11th September 2011 in Blues Guitar Tips

There are some left handed guitar players that string their guitars upside down. Low E string at the bottom and high E string at the top where normally the low E string should be at the top. Notably blues guitarist Doyle Bramhall. Does anybody know why and how they would have learned to play this way? Bookmark it: Read more...

are there any old school blues fans left?

Posted by admin on 9th August 2011 in Blues Guitar Tips

When I started playing guitar, my first instructor drilled me in blues to teach the way chord progressions work and the structure of modern american music. I learned to love the music for it’s quality and simplicity (not to mention the great players like BB King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters). Am I the last white guy in the world that really digs the old time blues? Bookmark it: Read more...

My palm (especially the area between my thumb and wrist) sometimes have horrible cramps when I do scale work on guitar, and gets gradually worse as I go faster on the metronome. Does my hand muscles just need to get strengthened, or am I doing something wrong posture-wise? Bookmark it: Read more...
