How can I prevent palm cramps in my left hand when playing scales on my guitar?

Posted by admin on 13th January 2011 in Guitar Chords

My palm (especially the area between my thumb and wrist) sometimes have horrible cramps when I do scale work on guitar, and gets gradually worse as I go faster on the metronome. Does my hand muscles just need to get strengthened, or am I doing something wrong posture-wise? Bookmark it: Read more...

I want to buy a left handed acoustic guitar. I am a beginner. Any advice?

Posted by admin on 16th December 2010 in Guitar Playing Tips

On type, how much I should consider spending (I am afraid too cheap will fall apart and too expensive is kind of unnecessary) Is the 3000 dollar acoustic really better than the 1000 dollar one? Or 100 dollar one? Am I buying the name? I don’t really care about having a name brand or fancy looking guitar if they all work the same. Thanks for any advice you can give. I’m left handed; Can you help me decide how to play the guitar?

Posted by admin on 3rd December 2010 in Guitar Playing Tips

The thing is, I’m left-handed. I’ve never played the guitar before, but I’d like to learn. While my left is my dominant hand, my right isn’t completely useless – I can do many things with it (eg I use the mouse with my right hand only). But now how should I learn to play the guitar – lefty or righty (standard)? Also, in case I do decide on lefty, are there any online tutorials to help me learn? Bookmark it: Read more...
