How to read guitar chords on a music sheet?

Posted by admin on 29th December 2011 in Guitar Chords

I dont completely understand playing chords when its written on a music sheet (not tabs). For example, during a song, the chord is listed above a note like G and then the same G is listed above another note that doesnt look the same as the other G. During any song that has to do with chords, do you have to use the same chord throughout the song when there are different notes on the music sheet? Thanks hopefully that didnt sound confusing Bookmark it: Read more...

How do you play a song on a guitar from traditional sheet music?

Posted by admin on 3rd December 2011 in Advanced

I know how to read tablature, and as a pianist I’ve been able to sight-read sheet music for going on 15 years. However, I’ve been playing a guitar for a couple years but I’d like to learn how to play from sheet music instead of tabs. Basically, I’m just looking for how sheet music relates to the guitar; I have a whole stack of sheet music books and I’d like to be able to play them on something other than piano. Thanks in advance! Having trouble writing music?

Posted by admin on 12th November 2011 in Blues Guitar Tips

I’ve been playing guitar for over 4 years now, learned by myself, but I haven’t written a ‘good’ song yet! I’m 16 years old btw. If you’d listen to Keith Merrow (search him on youtube), Nevermore, Slayer etc. you’d have a pretty good idea of the music I want to write. But when it get’s to complicated riffing like with Keith Merrow and Jeff Loomis/Nevermore, I just can’t get the job done! I can write a Slayer type riff Read more...
