Guitar question. Need advice !?

Posted by admin on 17th July 2011 in Guitar Playing Tips

Ok so I am new with guitars and I am thinking of buying one this week. I don’t have money for an electric one, so I think of buying either an acoustic or a classical one. Which one is better – acoustic or classical ? I would also like to play Metallica, AC/DC, Linkin Park, The Rolling Stones. Can you tell me which of those groups I’ll be able to play on my guitar. Thanks in advance ! Bookmark it: Read more...

Question about guitars?

Posted by admin on 17th May 2011 in Blues Guitar Tips

I’m gonna get straight to the point. I have no previous experience using a guitar. I’ve always been interested in learning how to play the guitar, but don’t have the money for a teacher. Is it possible to self-teach guitar? Have you personally done it? How do you compare with your friends who have been taught by a teacher? Also, I am interested in playing Blues. My friend said that he “can’t play blues” is there a certain type Read more...

Blues guitar question.?

Posted by admin on 16th May 2011 in Blues Guitar Tips

When you apply the 12 bar progression on a blues song you always take the 1st, 4th and 5th chord of your first chord right? So when you pick A you get: A-D-E But I made a song with F# and then you get: F# – B#- C# As you all know B# doesn’t exist ( not on a guitar at least), so my question is, how do I solve this? I really want to use F#, because it sounds good, but I don’t know how to go on. Bookmark it: Read more...

I’m looking for some ol’ Mississippi, back porch, bayou blues… with guitar you can feel I realize that Delta and Bayou are different. I live in Louisiana. I was trying to give a slight reference to the type of style I was talking about. Bookmark it: Read more...

Question about electric guitar strings (for more advanced)?

Posted by admin on 10th May 2011 in Advanced

Ok, I have two electric guitars. With both tuned standard: 65′ Silvertone’s strings feel tight, harder to push down and difficult to bend notes, everything just feels TOO tight. Jackson’s strings feel perfect, nice and loose and easy to bend the strings all over the place. is the difference mostly the strings? or the guitar? I’m a good guitar player, I’ve just never figured this out! My instructor suggested trying lighter gauge strings. Read more...
