I am learning the guitar and so far I have been finger picking a lot so I want to focus a bit on strumming. I know chords but when it comes to playing a song, I’m lost. I’m trying out for my high school’s jazz band. I’ve played electric guitar for a good year and a half but have not really been able to practice much. As long as jazz is concerned, I’ve got only basics down: movable chords, a few scales (major, mixloydian, dorian, blues, and pentatonic), and some other types of chords such as sus, 13th, diminished 7, and what not but just a little.
